Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-10-31 · Vulpine 0.5.0

These terms cover this website and the Vulpine browser. Using either means you accept them.

The software is free, and openly licensed

Vulpine is released under the MIT licence. You may use it for anything, including commercially, and you may modify and redistribute it, provided the copyright notice and licence travel with it. Nothing on this page takes away a right the MIT licence gives you; where the two disagree, the licence wins.

There is no charge, no subscription, and nothing to buy.

No warranty

Vulpine is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You use it at your own risk.

In plain terms: this is a browser built on Chromium by a small project. It has an extensive test suite, but it has not had an independent security review and its releases are not code-signed. A browser with a funded security team behind it is a safer choice if you need one.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the authors and copyright holders are not liable for any claim, damages, or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort, or otherwise, arising from or in connection with the software or its use. That includes loss of data, lost profits, and business interruption.

Some places do not allow certain warranties or liabilities to be excluded. Where that is so, the above applies only as far as the law allows, and your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

What you may not do

Accounts

Accounts are optional. If you make one, keep your credentials secure; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Sign-in is operated through Clerk, and its terms apply to that service. We may suspend an account being used to attack the service. You may delete your account at any time, which removes the settings and bookmarks synced to it. See the Privacy Policy.

Other people's software and content

Vulpine renders the web. We do not control, endorse, or take responsibility for the sites you visit or the extensions you choose to install.

Vulpine builds on Chromium and Electron, and includes the Widevine content decryption module so protected video can play. Widevine is Google's and is governed by Google's terms; it is not licensed to you by us. Filter lists come from their own maintainers under their own licences. Those components remain the property of their respective owners.

Updates

Vulpine checks for updates by default and can install them. You can turn that off in Settings, though an out-of-date browser is a security risk.

Availability

This site and the update feed come with no guarantee of uptime. The browser keeps working when they are down; it simply stops finding updates.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change. The date at the top says when they last did. Continuing to use Vulpine after a change means accepting it.

Governing law

Not set yet. Governing law depends on where the project is based, which cannot be read out of the repository. Set JURISDICTION at the top of scripts/legal.js and rebuild.
